Audiobook Review: Prosecco Pink by Traci Andrighetti

Proseccio Pink

For Franki Amato, life in New Orleans is anything but “The Big Easy.” When she met handsome bank executive Bradley Hartmann, she knew she’d finally found a man she could trust. But she can’t say the same for his sexy new secretary, who is about as trustworthy as Mata Hari and every bit as seductive. Meanwhile, Franki’s best friend and employer, Veronica Maggio, has named her the lead investigator in the murder of a gorgeous cosmetics CEO who was found lying dead in the master bedroom of a historic plantation home.

Now the pressure is on Franki to figure out what a bottle of pink lip gloss and the legend of a pink diamond have to do with the bizarre killing. The problem is that the plantation is notorious for being haunted, and Franki is less than enthusiastic about the prospect of meeting a ghost. Adding to her stress, her Sicilian grandma is up to her usual meddling antics—this time planning Franki’s engagement to Bradley before he’s even considered popping the question. As Bradley grows distant and plantation employees begin dropping like Southern belles during a sweltering summer, Franki turns to a psychic with a phobia of ghosts to solve the mysterious murders and her own relationship fears.

**Now in development for a TV movie!**

My Review:

Traci Andrighetti is a really talented, witty writer! Her writing is very unique in my opinion. She combines good characters, an entertaining plot, and humor to make this book a winner. I laughed out loud several times!

NARRATOR PERFORMANCE

Madeline Mrozek

  • Narrator-Story Connection: 10/10

Madeline does an excellent job connecting to this story. Not sure who matches narrators to stories, but this was a perfect match. Whenever the narrator is completely “into” the story it shows in their performance.

  • Voice Quality: 10/10

The clarity of Madeline’s voice was the first thing that caught my eye. Clear, sharp and convincing. Whenever I listen to an audio sample this is always in the forefront. And I can always tell within the first 15 seconds if I can endure an entire book with a narrator.

  • Voice Switch Over:  10/10

There was an impressive number of character voices covered  in this one and I found them all entertaining! The narrative voice from detective Franki Amato’s point of view was very crisp, hilarious, and engaging.

  1. Franki’s italian parents and her mannerisms were quite funny.
  2. Veronica, her employer, had a high pitched squeaky voice that also was compelling.
  3. Delta the owner of the plantation was superb. Her arrogant southern drawl was portrayed perfectly.
  4. Glenda the stripper, Bradley the boyfriend and the secretary were also notable performances.

Madeline switches between all these characters seamlessly making it seem easy.

  • Pacing 10/10

The Narrator had a good pace throughout the book that keeps you engaged and on your feet.

  • Emphasis 10/10

Excellent.  I can tell each and every character was embodied with precision. Madeline brings to life each personality that makes it very entertaining.

  • Reader-Story Connection 10/10

The narrator can do wonders for a story. They can make it appear in 3D to the reader, or deflate it entirely. Madeline, again does an marvelous job bringing you into the core of the story.

  • Sound Quality: 10/10

Publisher: Gemma Halliday Publishing. Very professional sound quality. No problems here.

  • Overall Performance: 10/10

The overall performance was exceptional. The combination of great writing from author Traci Andrighetti and narrator performance by Madeline Mrozek was a perfect match.

Traci Andrighetti

Traci Andrighetti is the USA TODAY bestselling author of the Franki Amato mysteries and the Danger Cove Hair Salon mysteries. In her previous life, she was an award-winning literary translator and a Lecturer of Italian at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a PhD in Applied Linguistics. But then she got wise and ditched that academic stuff for a life of crime–writing, that is.

If she’s not hard at work on her next novel, Traci is probably watching her favorite Italian soap opera, eating Tex Mex, or sampling fruity cocktails, and maybe all at the same time. She lives in Austin with her husband, young son (who desperately wants to be in one of her books) and three treat-addicted dogs.
